When I've asked spiritual leaders the question "what inhibits your members most from living out their religion as they should", 90% have stated point-blank that the culprit is materialism. Here the Imam at the All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) Center mosque replies to the inquiry whether materialism effects his congregation.

The pastor here is a physically and spiritually large man, his presence fills the room. His faith and hope seem tangible. The church he leads is one of two UMC churches in this small town, and it is mostly an African American church, though not by any official decree but by self-segregation.

2nd Mount Olive Baptist Church is just east of Hamilton, Virginia, along East Colonial Highway, and is a small but wonderful and spirited congregation. The people there are so welcoming, kind, and full of faith. I was never welcomed with as much love and kindness during our FaithToSelfGovern pilot test as I was here. In fact, my wife and some of my children came with me to a worship service and at the end they all stood up to form a circle (with us being part of it), held hands, and prayed for us.
